This coping method is endorsed by my neighbor the psych professor. A similar coping method is “self-hypnosis,” which sounds a lot cooler than it is. What it is is you describing to yourself in great detail what your happy place is like, in sound, smell, taste, feel, sight, however you like. It doesn’t even have to be physically possible, my happy place is the library on a windy, rainy, dark, and cloudy day, while I can feel the nice warm sunlight. It would never happen in real life, but it doesn’t need to. It just needs to happen in my head.
